As the early morning sun began to light the mist-covered hills of the Fujigoko countryside, I arrived at a quaint hotel to prepare a lovely couple for their special day. The serene atmosphere, with a gentle hint of autumn in the air, was perfect for their Mt. Fuji Elopement. The hills, slowly waking up, exuded a peaceful calm, while the scent of grass and fire stoves lingered, setting a romantic mood.
A Floating Ceremony on Lake Shojiko
Nestled in this idyllic setting, they had chosen to exchange their vows in a way that was as unique as their love story – on a small boat, amidst the tranquil waters of Lake Shojiko. The lake, part of the Fuji Five Lakes, mirrored the grandeur of Mt. Fuji, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their intimate ceremony. Surrounded by nature’s splendor, with the legendary mountain in view, their elopement embodied the essence of romance and beauty.
Their accommodation, a beautifully restored kominka, added a traditional charm to their stay. These old-style Japanese houses are gems in the countryside, offering a glimpse into the rich heritage of Japan. The kominka, with its rustic elegance, provided a cozy retreat for the couple, enhancing the intimate and heartfelt experience of their Mt. Fuji Elopement.
The ceremony itself was a beautiful affair, marked by the simplicity and depth of their commitment. With just the two of them, the vows were exchanged with Mt. Fuji standing majestically in the background. The moment was as picturesque as it was profound – a true celebration of love in one of the most stunning settings on earth.
From Lakeside Calm to the Wild Beauty of Shosenkyo
After the ceremony, we visited a nearby café where an elderly woman was cooking on a stove. The couple enjoyed a relaxing break while taking in the surrounding landscape. Our next destination was Shosenkyo Gorge, celebrated as one of Japan’s most beautiful gorges with its rugged cliffs and lush foliage ー a sight to behold, especially in early October when the leaves were still a vibrant green.
Returning to the Airbnb, they had an intimate boudoir session, capturing the essence of their love in a series of beautiful, personal photographs. To end their remarkable day, the couple dined at a local restaurant, savoring the flavors of Japan and reflecting on their unforgettable Mt. Fuji Elopement.

Hair & makeup, kimono support, officiant services, and cultural elements are coordinated through a trusted core team and long-standing partners, with broader coordination across styling, guest needs, and experience-related services — with services added as needed, and everything managed calmly behind the scenes.
We guide you through what’s possible in Japan, what actually works well, and what fits your priorities — including handling of all access, privacy, and permits.
We plan the day so it works even if weather, crowds, or conditions change. You don’t need to make hard calls on the day or worry about “what if” scenarios — those are handled in advance.

The day is actively guided and coordinated on-site, with logistics, timing, and decisions handled as they arise.
